Mission Statement:
The Town & Country
Christian community seeks to nurture students
so that they gain knowledge in life and grow in faith.
Town and Country Lutheran School was established in 1958 to offer
a Lutheran elementary education to the growing north area of Sacramento.
Located on a large attractive campus adjacent to Town and Country
Lutheran Church, the school is partially supported as a mission
outreach by the congregation.
Our goal is to provide the highest quality education possible in
a Christ-centered atmosphere. We also strive to provide a caring,
nurturing environment with attention to special family needs.
Academic Preparation
Town & Country Lutheran School is a member of
the Core Knowledge Coalition of Schools. Teachers use a published,
culturally integrated curriculum, which systematically builds children's
knowledge in all subject areas, including visual arts and music;
thus providing students with a content-rich course of study. Each
week parents receive an outline of topics their child will study
that allows them to follow along with their child's work. The student's
love of learning attests to the curriculum's effectiveness.
Core knowledge is a
curriculum that achieves academic excellence and higher literacy.
Elementary and middle school children need a solid, specific, shared
core curriculum in order to establish strong foundations of knowledge
grade by grade
Town and Country Lutheran School emphasizes the highest possible
academic moral and ethical principles. Students participate in daily
devotions and weekly chapel. Most of the teachers are certified
by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Smaller classes and use of
classroom assistants allow excellent individual student-teacher
involvement.
Children who attend our school develop a sense of confidence and
social skills. We endeavor to have them develop a high degree of
self-esteem and a strong sense of positive self-discipline. The
practice of combining two grades per classroom provides opportunities
for the older children to mentor the younger ones. Students who
attend our school feel a sense of community and can develop long-term
Christian friendships. In addition, preparation for high school
is one of our key goals.
Parental involvement is encouraged through close parent-teacher
contact and in-home visits. Parents have the opportunity to be classroom
helpers, field trip chaperones and members of a parent-teacher league.
