What's Happening?

The Building Committee has been involved in several different areas of ‘what if' and ‘maybe’ this past month. There were meetings with firms to acquire estimates to demolish the parish hall This led to meetings with an asbestos inspection firm to identify the where and how much asbestos exists in that building. No conclusion has been reached yet on if or when demolition would take place.

We received some estimated costs for doing the sire preparation work. As expected the cost to bring water down Marconi onto the property for fire protection was large. However, there is another option yet to be examined. That is to acquire access through the apartment property on the west. This would definitely shorten the footage required and thereby reduce the cost. This route is being explored.

We spent significant time with representatives from DCA (the steel building architectural firm) and Hilbers Construction (General Contractors from Yuba City). While here, they involved us in several preliminary designs and plot plans for new buildings. They have returned to their offices and will be sending us more detailed and more precise designs soon. These plans will be reviewed and fine tuned by the Building Committee. We expect this process to take 6 to 8 weeks.

During this time, the Building and Finance Committee will work to develop plans to fund the design or portion(s) thereof we believe will serve the needs of our congregation and school.

A QUESTION FOR YOU AND FOR YOUR FAMILY

  • Are you praying frequently that the Lord will guide you and the congregation, and we as your representatives in the direction He wants us to move?

  • Pray for the success of DCA to design buildings that will provide opportunity for expansion of our ministry to the community.

  • Pray that the Building and Finance Committees will be led to God pleasing conclusions.

  • Pray that the congregation be directed by the Spirit to accept the challenges laid before us

The Lord has bronght us to this time and to this place according to His plan. Are we ready and willing to grapple with the challenges which confront us? Prayer will prepare our hearts and minds to act in the manner our Lord would desire.

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks for all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thes.5: 16-18
