| HOW A "VENTURE"
BECAME A JOURNEY
Town and Country Lutheran Church and School were founded
on a strong faith in God's leadership, and our congregation knows what
it means to step out in faith.
We are motivated by the need to worship God, to instruct believers, and
to share God's grace with our community.
Nearly sixty years ago, the seeds for Town and Country Lutheran Church
were planted. With little more than a vicar and $95 to get a car in working
order so he could make visits on the then "rural" area of Sacramento,
our church was begun. In obedience to God, the founders of Town and Country
began to meet in homes and then a community hall in Del Paso Heights.
Sensing a need to increase their ministry, this young congregation bought
land and chose the theme, "A Venture of Faith" for their effort.
The word "venture" surely captured what this small band of believers
sought to accomplish, for it means "an undertaking attended with
risk or danger." A risk, yes, but with FAITH added to the equation,
it was clear that they put their complete trust in the Lord to accomplish
their goal.
How fitting then that we, as God's people in this day and time, have chosen
"Our Journey of Faith" as the title of our capital campaign
effort. We wish to continue what those faithful folks began, reaching
out to present and future generations with our ministry of Grace.

OUR NEED IS TO UPDATE
AND EXPAND
While the simple problems of space and aging buildings are
obvious, the desire to provide a plan with a long-term vision and a church
for the next generation also motivates us.
OUR NEEDS
To refurbish and expand the
current parish hall into a multi-use facility, enabling us to increase
our ministry opportunities to the whole family of God.
To update and build
classroom spaces for our day school and parish education use, providing
the best possible environment for Christian education.
THE FUTURE DEPENDS ON OUR RESPONSE
Now is the time! Inadequate fellowship space limits our
ability to provide a full range of activities for our own congregation
or to reach out to our community in significant ways. Classrooms in need
of refurbishing do not foster the best possible environment for the Christ-centered
education our school wants to provide. In short, our facilities can dictate
and limit our mission. What opportunities are we missing? Updated and
expanded facilities will open up the possibility for new ministries as
the future unfolds and we welcome people from our community into our family
at Town and Country Lutheran Church.
OUR PLAN IS TO UPDATE AND EXPAND
All the hard work of our Building Committee resulted in
an initial master plan for Town and Country. Recently, the committee has
been presented with some alternative approaches to building that may enable
us to maximize the dollars designated for Our Journey of Faith.
